Materials
Is gold plated jewelry waterproof?
No. Gold-plated jewelry is not waterproof. Our 18K gold-plated pieces carry a thin layer of gold over copper or brass, and plating in general wears with moisture, friction and perfume. Take pieces off to swim, shower or wash your hands, and put them on after lotion and perfume have dried.
Does silver plated jewelry tarnish?
Silver-plated jewelry can darken over time, especially where it touches skin or meets perfume and humidity. Ours is silver-plated copper or brass. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after wearing and store it in its box. No dips or polishing creams, which can wear through the plate.
Are the pearls real?
It depends on the piece, and each product page says which. Many pieces, including the Pearl Blossom Brooch, the Pearl Charm Bracelet and the Pearl Flower Ring, use freshwater cultured pearls, which are real pearls grown in freshwater mussels. Some sets and the Lilac Flower Pearl Earrings use glass pearls, which are glass beads with a pearl-like surface. The Materials page lists both.
Are the earring posts sterling silver?
Most pairs have 925 sterling silver posts, for example the Kelp Leaf Earrings, the Sunflower Studs and the Twin Bloom Pearl Earrings. A few pairs list silver posts without the 925 mark. Check the spec list on each product page before you order.
Is the jewelry solid gold or sterling silver?
No. The wire is copper or brass with silver, 18K gold or palladium plating, or colored copper wire. Only the 925 sterling silver posts on earrings, where listed, are sterling. The prices reflect that.
Is every piece crocheted?
No. Crocheted wire is one technique some pieces use, such as the Ruffle Collar Necklace; other pieces are bent, wrapped or woven. All of it is handmade wire jewelry, made in small batches. See How it's made.
How do I clean the jewelry?
A soft, dry cloth for plated and colored wire; a damp cloth, then dry, for pearls; a dry wipe for stones and shell. No polish, dips or ultrasonic cleaners. See the Care page.
Wearing
How do I wear a brooch?
Pin it high on a blazer lapel, at the shoulder of a dress or coat, at the neck of a knit, or through a scarf knot. Our brooches have plain pin backs and measure roughly 4–9 cm across, so they suit wool and heavier fabric; on fine silk, pin through a lining or seam. Read How to wear a brooch.
Can I wear it every day?
Yes, if it comes off for sleep, showers and swimming and goes on after lotion and perfume. Plated wire and pearls last far longer with those habits than without them.
Will the rings fit me?
The Pearl Flower Ring has an open band that adjusts to your finger. The Woven Pearl Band Ring is a closed band about 1.7 cm inside, which is roughly a US size 6½ to 7. Each product page lists the inside measurement.
How big and how heavy are the pieces?
Each product page lists dimensions in centimeters and inches, and any weight given is per single piece, not per pair. Brooches run about 4–9 cm across, studs 1.8–3.5 cm, and drop earrings up to about 7.6 cm including chains.
Shipping and returns
How much is shipping and how long does it take?
US shipping is free on orders over $100; otherwise it is a flat $10. We prepare orders in 1–3 business days, and delivery takes 7–12 business days after dispatch. You receive an email with a tracking link when your order ships.
What is your return policy?
Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery, unworn and in the original box. If a piece arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, send a photo and we arrange a replacement or a full refund with no return shipping cost to you. If you change your mind, we refund and you arrange the return shipping. Please contact us first through the Contact page; we reply within 24–48 hours, and approved refunds reach your original payment method within 10 business days.
Does it come in a gift box?
Yes. Every order ships in a recycled paper drawer box, ready to give as it is.
Sets
How do sets work?
Each set lists its pieces separately, so you can buy only the earrings or only the necklace. Choose The Set option to buy all the pieces together for about 20% less than the separate prices.
