Fine wire behaves like lace. Put it on last, after lotion and perfume; take it off to swim, shower and sleep; store each piece flat in its box so the loops do not catch. If a loop bends, ease it back with your fingers, never pliers. The materials page says which sections apply to your piece.
Plated metal
Silver-plated, 18K gold-plated and palladium-plated wire is a thin layer of metal over copper or brass. Plating in general wears with friction, moisture and perfume; silver plate can darken over time. Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. No polish, no dips.
Colored wire
Keep colored copper wire away from rubbing and solvents, which dull the color. Dry cloth only.
Freshwater cultured pearls
Pearls are soft and dislike chemicals: no perfume, hairspray or cleaners. Wipe with a damp cloth after wearing, then dry. Do not soak.
Glass pearls
Glass pearls are glass beads with a pearl-like surface that can scratch or wear at the drill hole. Store apart from harder pieces and wipe dry.
Stones and shell
Amazonite, tiger's eye, amethyst, abalone shell and mother-of-pearl chip if knocked. Keep them off hard edges and out of water; a soft, dry cloth is enough.
